Furthermore, this figure has been steadily increasing over time – what a promising development!

While more than 80% of American shoppers continue to visit physical retail stores when making an internet purchase, the numbers are significantly lower in other countries. In fact – with an eye-popping 96%! – more than nine out of ten shoppers from Japan have chosen to indulge themselves physically while shopping online. This is truly fascinating!

Increasingly sophisticated marketing techniques are also shaping tomorrow’s ecommerce experience. Take video content as an example: less than half (46%) of consumers surveyed indicated that they were likely to watch videos on an ecommerce site again whereas 62% were likely to view images therein – quite a difference from just three years ago where only 36% had taken such action. And with 37% revealing plans to listen to audio content on such platforms compared with 32% who did so in 2016; it seems like we’re witnessing a revolution taking place within those sectors too!

Competition in the e-commerce market has never been more intense or fierce, yet retailers still see a great opportunity to succeed within this dynamic ecosystem and leverage its strengths to their advantage.
