Who is David DePape, the suspected assailant in the Nancy Pelosi husband attack?

San Francisco police allege that David DePape attempted to kill Paul Pelosi in their home invasion Friday night. They believe he had planned the attack, and are looking for any information that could lead to his arrest.

David DePape, a wannabe loner with a troubling online presence and connections to a radical nudist activist, allegedly entered the San Francisco home of Speaker Nancy Pelosi last Friday morning, attacked her husband with a hammer, and fled the scene. Fortunately for Mr. Pelosi’s husband, DePape was apprehended shortly afterwards by city police officers who were already in the area responding to another emergency call.

The police Officers responded to a call around 2:30am and found a frazzled 82-year-old man struggling with a hammer next to his 82 year old wife, Paul Pelosi. The officers quickly apprehended the suspect and brought him in for questioning.

Madly charging towards Mr. Pelosi, the suspect pulled out a hammer and soon after assaulted him with it. In an effort to incapacitate the assailant, the police officers quickly tackled him, disarmed him, and took him into custody – all while requesting emergency backup. Though Mr. Pelosi was knocked to the ground during the assault, he was thankfully uninjured.

Both Pelosi and DePape were brought to the hospital after their altercation. Both are now recovering, although it is unclear how either will be able to continue working in politics following the attack.

The attack on Nancy Pelosi left her hospitalized, but she is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing successful surgery on a fractured skull, according to Drew Hammill, her spokesman. She also suffered serious injuries on her left arm and both hands. Fortunately, the attack did not leave Pelosi with major brain damage and she is in good spirits considering the gravity of her situation.

Apparently, Paul Pelosi’s rival, Hammill, told DePape that he would kill the Congressman if he didn’t hand over his wife.

According to reports from sources earlier in the day, the suspect broke into the home and began shouting out for Nancy. After a tense search throughout the house, police were able to bring Nancy safe and sound back to her family.

Chief Lawson announced to the press that DePape will be arrested and booked at San Francisco County Jail on attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary, and several other felony charges.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, but the FBI and Capitol Police are currently working together to find out what happened.

DePape’s controversial online presence includes a large number of inflammatory, far-right posts and nude photos that have earned her the unflattering nickname “Nudist Nonsense.” However, her handcrafted jewelry is highly prized by collectors all over the world.
